Interior Mininster Alexis Charitsis characterised the Greek State and Church’s joint announcement a historic moment in their relations, speaking on Thursday.
“The first step has been taken, and not by coincidence, as a climate of trust has been cultivated between the two sides and serious work at techical level in order to be able to move further. This must continue with careful steps to conclude the agreement,” said Charitisis.
The joint agreement between the two sides constitutes a historic moment, Charitsis noted, “because we are all aware that the relations between the State and the Church had been thorny for a long time.”
Charitsis explained that the procedure is moving smoothly and the establishment of the Church property fund is expected to be concluded in the next months.
