Efi Achtsioglou meets on reducing gender inequality

Labour Minister Efi Achtsioglou met on Wednesday with Deputy Interior Minister Marina Chryssoveloni and the Secretary General for Gender Equality Fotini Kouvela where they discussed actions and steps to help boost gender equality, protect motherhood and help reduce unemployment among women.

The Labor Ministry decided to extend the leave and benefits paid to women involved in surrogate motherhood, for employees and the self employed. The ministry also extended protection against dismissal for mothers that adopt children or are surrogate mothers. Additionally, it also upgraded the protection for motherhood for workers at welfare programs and introduced special parent leave for parents of children with Down syndrome or autism.
