5th generation technologies can turn Greece into transfer hub for global products, Pappas says
“We are very pleased to be hosting the conference of the International Telecommunication Union in Greece for the 5th generation of telecommunication technologies,” Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas said in statements on Thursday.
Pappas made the statements at the opening day of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) conference, which focuses on digitizing societies as part of a greater plan to turn Europe into a Gigabit society by 2025. The two-day conference is taking place at the Digital Policy Ministry.
“5th generation technologies can support technologies related to Greece’s new development model,” he added.
Greece can become a transfer hub for global products, Pappas said. “New generation technologies – for example, cars without a driver – are based on 5th generation telecoms. So this kind of discussion and its diffusion into society is very crucial to understanding that the development of these technologies is at the core of Greece’s new growth strategy, ” Pappas said.
