Greece had a 100 percent absorption rate in European Funds over the period 2007-2013, noted European Commissioner Corina Cretu on Thursday during a debate at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, adding that Greece also had had one of the best performances for 2014-2020.
Kretu said that the review of the cohesion regulation and the special measures for Greece met their target, and this is obvious to all at the Europarliament. Greece, she noted, faced a a serious liquidity problem but a liquidity injection and investments that supported the real economy brought positive results in a very short period.
Moreover, Cretu underlined that the up to date progress should become the driving force for Greece to continue supporting this pipeline that will allow mature programmes to be created, evolve, grow and bear fruit.
Finally, she said that the European Commission will continue offering technical support to the Greek authorities to facilitate the implementation of these programmes.
