Tsakalotos and Chouliarakis meeting with institution representatives on Wednesday and Friday
The representatives of Greece’s creditors (institutions) will begin their scheduled post-memorandum meetings with economy officials on Wednesday morning.
The meetings will be held at the Justice Ministry building. Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Alternate Minister George Chouliarakis will be the only Greek officials participating.
Two or three meetings are scheduled on Wednesday and one on Friday, after which the institutions’ representatives are expected to depart. If there is need for an additional meeting, it will be held on Thursday.
The basic agenda issue will focus on progress in the execution of the state budget for 2019 (the preliminary draft of which will be tabled in Parliament on October 1) and the primary surplus excess, a high-level government official told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
Other issues include the reforms listed in the Eurogroup’s decision in June, such as progress in outstanding state obligations to the private sector, staffing of the revenue collection agency, reduction of NPLs and e-auctions of foreclosed homes among others.
The institutions’ representatives will submit their report on these meetings, the first following Greece’s completion of its fiscal adjustment program on August 20, in November. They will be followed by three more, in February, May and November 2019.
