The technical training college (TEI) of Crete will be the recipient of EU funds totalling 1.2 million euros to upgrade its equipment and laboratories, Regional Director Stavros Arnaoutakis said on Tuesday.
The funds fall under the Regional Business Program for Crete, funded by EU regional development funds for 2014-2020.
Signing the inclusion of Crete’s TEI to the program, Arnaoutakis said the University of Crete and the Technical University of Crete had benefitted from similar programs. Combined, the three projects are worth over 5 milliion euros, he said, and will help all educational institutes on the island to work together.
The decision will allow the technical college to set up, among other things, a distance-learning and e-learning program, modern laboratories (including a clinical simulation system for the health sciences), 3D printing and laboratories for energy research.
