President Prokopis Pavlopoulos inaugurated on Monday the 47th Zappeio Book Fair that will run until September 16 and its central theme is poetry that has been set to music.
The president pointed out that the book fair is a part of activities for Athens being the World Book Capital for 2018. These events, said the president are of large cultural importance for the country and Athens to show Greece’s contribution to the value of books.
Recognising books in hard copy does not take anything away from the book in digital form, said the president, adding that it is intended at highlighting its value in education.
Recently appointed Culture Minister Myrsini Zorba said that book fairs have once again become popular in Greece despite challenges faced by the sector.
