My conscious demanded that I hand in my resignation, says Toskas

In an emotionally charged speech, former Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas thanked Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras for his inclusion in the government, while speaking at the handover ceremony of the ministry on Saturday.

“I accepted the honorary proposal from Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras who was invited to bring the country back from the edge and he proved that bravery is not just for the generals but for responsible politicians who at these difficult times show what they are made of. The people understand, assess and judge. The community as a whole is the big judge,” he said.

“My conscious demanded from the very first moment that I submit my resignation to the prime minister. Some people didn’t believe me even though I have kept saying in the last three years that I am not tied to this position,” he added.
