“It’s a time for responsibility. We all know what the leaders’ guidelines are. It is now up to the ministers and to all of us to implement them,” European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos said upon his arrival at the first informal Council of EU Interior and Justice Ministers under the Austrian Presidency in Innsbruck.
“We are living at a critical time for Europe and we must make every effort to ensure and defend the achievements of the last sixty years,” Avramopoulos said, adding: “Migration is now a catalyst so there can be progress in a spirit of responsibility and solidarity. I look forward to a very productive cooperation with my colleagues, interior ministers of all the member states, and I am sure the outcome will be positive.”
