Greek Parliament President Nikos Voutsis met with COSCO President Xu Liron in Shanghai on Thursday and discussed the possibilities of investing in Greece, especially after the end of the adjustment program in August.
Voutsis also met with Liang Jianquan, vice president of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, and Liu Guangyong, deputy director general of Shanghai’s department of Foreign Affairs. Both officials accompanied the parliament speaker on a tour of the city’s Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, where the development of Shanghai (population 25 million) is recorded.
Voutsis said the city was “a true model of urban planning which respects tradition and aesthetics, and (incorporating) cutting-edge technology in every infrastructure” and added that its planning offers “a glimpse into China’s future.”
On Friday, the visiting Greek official is scheduled to meet with Shanghai’s mayor, Ying Yong.
