Debate on censure motion to start at 18:00

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Thursday in parliament that he will table a motion of censure immediately after the end of a roll-call vote on the omnibus bill with the prior actions needed to conclude the fourth review of the Greek programme. The roll-call vote was requested by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).

Parliament president Nikos Voutsis said that the prime minister and the government wish the discussion to begin at 18:00 on Thursday. The debate on the motion of censure must end no later than midnight on the third day after it begins and is followed by a roll-call vote. A motion of censure is only accepted if it is supported by an absolute majority of all 300 MPs elected to Parliament.

A censure motion proposal cannot be submitted until six months after the rejection of a previous proposal, unless it is signed by the absolute majority of all MPs.
