Costis Hatzidakis calls on PM Tsipras to respond to FYROM name issue query

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras must clarify whether the negotiations on the FYROM name issue still include the name “Macedonia of Iliden” as part of the proposed resolutions, New Democracy (ND) Deputy Costis Hatzidakis reiterated on Thursday.

The main opposition’s vice president said that he called on Tsipras twice in Parliament to respond to the question first set by ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, but the PM ignored him both times. The prime minister’s silence on the issue, Hatzidakis said, “raises the legitimate concern among Greeks that this unacceptable proposal, which embodies the epitome of FYROM’s irredentism, is still on the negotiation table,” and called on him to “respond immediately and clearly to the question set by ND’s president.”
