Greek Foreign Ministry condemns attack on Syria

Greece strongly condemns the use of chemical weapons and supports the efforts to eradicate them.

The international community must thoroughly investigate all relevant incidents and the perpetrators should be held accountable.

At the same time, the objective of the international community must remain the effort to find a political and viable solution in Syria that will put an end to the war, restore the peace in the country and the region, allow the return of million of refugees to their homes and protect the entire population, including all religious and cultural communities.

In this direction, we should all contribute to the de-escalation of the situtation and to the strengthening of the efforts to cease the fire and offer humanitarian aid to the affected population.

Diplomacy has to come back at the forefront and efforts to be continued within the United Nations.
