ND’s Staikouras: Clean exit from memoranda desirable but not feasible

“The total and clean exit from the memoranda is desirable by not feasible” stated main opposition New Democracy (ND) shadow Finance Minister Christos Staikouras in an interview with the Saturday edition of Efimerida ton Syntakton.

Staikouras noted that the government has already voted the additional austerity measures that will be applied after the end of the current program and has committed to have high primary surpluses for many years after 2018 while the implementation of the necessary interventions for the debt settlement not only has been postponed but will be implemented to the extent that will be considered necessary by the institutions followed by a strict supervision and surveillance mechanism.

Finally, he underlined that his party’s aim is to become the rational selection of a broad social alliance and reassured that “even with parliamentary majority will seek the largest possible social consensus and political agreements”.
