Maria Sakkari qualifies to the Wuhan Open quarterfinals

Maria Sakkari continues her amazing appearances at the Wuhan Open. After the triumph over Karolina Wozniak (No6), the 22-year-old also eliminated Elena Vesnina (No21 at the WTA), taking the ticket for the quarterfinals.

Sakkari did not lose a single set, dominating 2-0 of her opponent and showing that she is in excellent competitive condition. After taking the first set in the tiebreak, she won the last set with 7-5 in a game that lasted more than two hours.

In the most important quarter-finals she has ever won, Maria will face Alizé Cornet, who eliminated Varvara Lepchenko. It is noted that the French tennis player had won her in the 2nd round of the Australian Open.
