Conference: Creating a culture of collaboration between museums, cultural initiatives, civil society and beyond

The Benaki Museum, the US Embassy in Athens and the British Council, in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Athen, organize the all-day conference titled “The Co-Museum: Synergies, co-operatives and partnerships between museums, cultural initiatives, civil society and others”, on November 29.

Professionals from the museum and the wider cultural sector, representatives of civil society organizations, artists and collectives, teachers and students are invited to examine how collaborations between different sectors and actors can be a powerful means of achieving the social mission of their organization and gaining stronger foundations within the communities they serve and represent.

This year’s Museum Conference will highlight inspiring examples of synergies and partnerships from the UK, the U.S., Germany and Greece. It will explore how museums and cultural organisations can embed diverse collaborations in their strategy and planning, and how they can invite different communities and initiatives to participate in a process of co-creation.

Admission is free and certificates of attendance will be provided. The conference is organised in partnership with the Benaki Museum and the Embassy of the United States, with the support of the Goethe Institut.

When: Thursday 29 November 2018, 09.00–19.00

Where: Benaki Museum  (138 Pireos Street).
