Τhe General Secretariat for Media and Communication, for the second consecutive year, is supporting ASIFA Hellas, the Greek section of the Association Internationale Du Film D’ Animation, and the Greek mission to the world’s largest animated film festival held in Annecy, France, on June 11-16. Τhe Greek entry is particularly strong this year, presenting 16 projects in different categories.

Also in the framework of the Festival, at the press conference for the European animation Emile Awards, Greece earned a special mentionand it was decided that the official ceremony for the announcement of the nominations will take place in Athens, in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Digital Policy, Media and Telecommunications. The ceremony, which was held last year in London, is scheduled for November 7.

Speaking at the press conference, the Media and Communication Secretary General Lefteris Kretsos stressed the “special importance of strengthening European animators in the broader field of audiovisual production, both for economic as well as for cultural and political reasons, given the dominance of American and Asian internet giants in the field of production and distribution of audiovisual content.”
