New meteo stations to be added to Athens National Observatory network

Twelve stations will be added to Athens National Observatory’s existing network of 48 automatic meteorological stations in Attica in areas without coverage.

The new station will improve the monitoring weather conditions linked with natural disasters, as floods and forest fires.

The installation of the new station will start soon and will be funded by the Hellenic Petroleum Group (ELPE) in the context of the programme of Corporate Social Responsibility that includes actions for the environment.

The total of information by the metering network will enrich the Observatory of Attica, the operation of which, has already been launched by the Athens National Observatory/meteo.
