Metro stations reopen, traffic back to normal after end of Grigoropoulos march

Traffic throughout central Athens was mostly back to normal at about 20:30 on Thursday and both the Syntagma and Panepistimio metro stations reopened after the conclusion of a march to mark the 10th anniversary since teenager Alexis Grigoropoulos was shot dead by police fire in 2008.

According to traffic police, only Patission Street from the junction with Alexandras Avenue up to Panepistimiou Avenue was closed to traffic due to ongoing clashes between rioters and police in Exarchia.
