City of Thessaloniki made certified member of Law Enforcement and Government Alliance against fraud

Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris was on Thursday presented with the certification from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) that makes the City of Thessaloniki part of the Law Enforcement and Government Alliance (LEGA). The city’s certification was presented to Boutaris during a seminar on “Fighting Fraud – improving governance” organisation by the Greek anti-fraud institute ACFE-Greece.

Accepting, Boutaris expressed his great satisfaction that the City of Thessaloniki was the first public agency to collaborate with the ACFE.

“Our inclusion in this alliance ultimately aims at strengthening the security mechanisms in the municipality structures, in order to track the warning signals and red flags that indicate signs of danger and corruption,” the mayor said, reminding those present that Thessaloniki had had one of the largest embezzlement scandals involving local authorities in Greece.
