Police arrest 633 people in petty crime crackdown in September

A crackdown in petty crimes in western Attica and Athens in September resulted in 633 people being arrested on different crimes.

Police said on Monday nearly 20,239 people were checked by police of which 6,527 were detained. Most of the 633 arrests were in connection to drug related offences and the illegal possession of weapons.

Two thirds of the arrests were made on western Attica, police added.
