Police arrest 276 people in western Attica in August on patrols

Heightened police checks aimed at boosting public safety levels have resulted in the arrest of 276 people in the western Attica area in August.

Police said on Friday that 12,536 people were checked by police on patrols on the streets of Attica, along with 7,005 cars and 284 stores. Out of this total number, 276 people were arrested, mostly on charges related to narcotics and theft, authorities said.

At the same time, police confiscated 200 grams of heroin, 147 grams of cocaine, 130 grams of cannabis and 12,545 packets of contraband cigarettes.
