Appeals court clears 13 people in structured bonds case

An appeals court on Tuesday cleared thirteen people of any wrongdoing in a case involving the purchase of 350 million euros of structured and non structured bonds by social security funds in 2006.

The announcement reverses a previous decision from a court that sentenced all thirteen people to sentences of between 15 to 25 years for fraud, negligence and running a criminal organisation.

The reasoning behind Tuesday’s court decision was not made public.
