The Telecommunications Museum of OTE Group, designated by the Greek chapter of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) as the honored Greek museum for 2018, will celebrate International Museum Day on May 18 with events focused on children, families and the elderly.
The international day’s theme this year is “Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics”, and the Telecoms Museum will house its events at its upgraded premises in Nea Kifissia. Some events will include the use of advanced technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).
“The most important moments in Greek history, the technologies that changed the ways we communicate, the stories of people who spearheaded progress in Greece, all are included in the museum collections, providing an information and history bank for future generations,” OTE Group Chairman and CEO Michael Tsamaz said.
Scheduled events include arts and crafts classes for children, parents and the elderly, museum-education actions, and a drama production.
All events, running from May 17 to 20, are free but reservations necessary. More details and registration tools are available at www.otegroupmuseum.gr.
These recent years, International Museum Day has involved organized activities in almost 30,000 museums in more than 120 countries.
