Polytechnic’s 180th anniversary: Greek President and PM Tsipras’ statements

The 180th anniversary of the “Metsovion University” or “Polytechnic University” was celebrated on Tuesday at Athens Concert Hall with the presence of many politicians and famous personalities.

Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos highlighted that Metsovion is connected with the Greek society, as it assists the country to resolve all issues and the fight for independence.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who was absent due to his visit in Paris for the “One Planet Summit” on climate action, said that the university is a great place of thought, progress, remaining open to new ideas and projects, while giving to students the opportunity to love science and academic knowledge. As Tsipras said, such words are not just theory for him, as he was a student of Metsovion University himself.
