Judicial council approves extradition of Russian national to Russian Federation

An appeals judge council in Thessaloniki approved the extradition of a 38-year-old Russian national to Russia, the second country requesting his extradition after the United States.

At an earlier date, a court in Thessaloniki had approved his extradition to the US to face Justice Department charges for money laundering through an electronic coin platform.

The man, who is held in Thessaloniki, has expressed the wish that he be extradited back to Russia, and has already appealed to the highest Greek court (Areios Pagos) against the extradition to the US.

According to the law, the final decision rests with the Greek minister of justice.
