Economy and Development Ministry: Greece’s economy registers great improvement in first half of 2018
Greece’s economy saw a greater improvement in 2018, the Economy and Development Ministry said in its Report of Economic Developments released on Wednesday.
Market confidence in Greece increased in the first half of 2018, it said, along with the economy’s improvement, with a 2.2 pct rise on an annual basis – the highest since 2007.
According to the report, the key factors for improved development were the factors of exports and private consumption, with the help of reserves that indicated expectations of a rise in demand.
In addition, the report said, two important factors for the first half of the year were the drop of unemployment to 19 pct in July 2018 for the first time since September 2011, and the rate of GDP growth, which for the first time fully converged fully with the rate of the eurozone countries (EU-19).
