According to ELSTAT, unemployment at 20.1 pct in March

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in March 2018 was 20.1 pct compared to the 22.1 pct in March 2017 and the downward revised 20.6 pct in February 2018, the Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday. The number of employed in March 2018 amounted to 3,793,934 persons. The number of unemployed amounted to 956,260 while the number of inactive to 3,236,664.

The number of employed persons increased by 74,890 persons compared with March 2017 (a 2.0 pct rate of increase) and by 47,085 persons compared with February 2018 (a 1.3 pct rate of increase).

The number of unemployed persons decreased by 101,576 persons compared with March 2017 (a 9.6 pct rate of decrease) and by 14,591 persons compared with February 2018 (a 1.5 pct rate of decrease).

The number of inactive persons, i.e., persons that neither work nor look for a job, decreased by 8,567 persons compared with March 2017 (a 0.3% rate of decrease) and by 35,972 persons compared with February 2018 (a 1.1 pct rate of decrease).
