Tax office to conduct 190,000 audits in 2018

Greece’s tax office plans to complete 190,000 audits this year in a bid to catch tax cheats, it said on Wednesday.

Called the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), the tax office said that number also includes checks that will be completed at the country’s customs pointsin an attempt to stamp out illegal trade.

AADE’s operational plan for 2018 also aims at raising revenues of 2.8 billion euros from previous debts Greek taxpayers have with the tax office.
