Greek industrial production up 1.1 pct in March

Greek industrial production grew 1.1 pct in March this year, compared with the same month in 2017, with manufacturing production falling by 1.1 pct in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that the industrial production composite index grew 1.1 pct in March 2018 after a 10.9 pct rise recorded in March 2017 and attributed this development to a 15 pct increase in electricity production, a 10.2 pct decline in mining production, an 1.1 pct fall in manufacturing production (reflecting a 44.9 pct drop in tobacco production, a 13.2 pct decline in textiles, an 11.6 pct decline in wood and a 16.1 pct fall in transport equipment), while water production fell 2.2 pct in the month.

The average industrial production index in the January-March 2018 period fell 0.6 pct compared with the corresponding period last year, while the seasonally-adjusted index rose 2.5 pct in March from February 2018.
