OLEO is a new organic Greek extra virgin olive oil, which has been created by two Greek entrepreneurs named Ilias Nikolakopoulos and Michalis Mikroulis.
Based in Barcelona, OLEO is a start-up company which has launched their product in Scandinavian market, including Sweden, and wishes to expand to other European markets too.
As the OLEO team has stated, this new product aims to be taken as a nutritional supplement in 5ml doses daily, so all of its benefits are provided to its consumers, including protection against osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, enhancement of the immune system, protection against the Alzheimer disease and cancer, among others.
The OLEO team focuses in the medicinal qualities of Greek extra virgin olive oil beyond its flavors. According to them ‘OLEO is a natural food supplement made from 100 per cent Greek organic extra virgin olive oil, which is produced in Ancient Olympia’ and as Ilias Nikolakopoulos has stated ‘the health benefits of olive oil are unrivaled, and research reveals more benefits nearly every day. In fact, we are just beginning to understand the countless ways olive oil can improve our health and our lives. As a result, we are looking to educate consumers on the power of polyphenols and their enormous health benefits through OLEO.’
OLEO is rich in oleocanthal and oleacein, two compounds that have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant cardioprotective and neuroprotective properties. For all these properties and the benefits OLEO provides, it was awarded the Gold Standard of Excellence for High Phenolic Extra Virgin Olive Oil by the Olympia Health and Nutrition Awards committee in Ancient Olympia in June 2016, whereas this year OLEO will take part in the London International Olive Oil Competition and the Aristoleo Awards, as well.
