President Nicos Anastasiades welcomed on Friday morning his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic who is on the island for the 2nd Intergovernmental Conference between Cyprus and Serbia.
The two presidents will hold a tete-a-tete meeting to be followed by consultations between the delegations of the two countries.
Present at the welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace were also the ministers of foreign affairs, interior, energy and commerce, education, the government spokesman and the presidency commissioner.
Anastasiades and Vucic will chair the conference during which the two sides will sign Memorandums of Understanding in various fields.
Bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, EU-Serbia relations, migration crisis, energy, regional developments and diaspora issues will be on the agenda of the talks. A Joint Declaration is expected to be issued after they conclude.
The two presidents will also make statements to the press and will attend a working lunch.
Government spokesman Prodromos Prodromou has said that the conference will contribute to the constant development of the excellent historical ties between Cyprus and Serbia.
